About Kids

Tom Drummond’s Connecting to Children Curriculum: If every person who works or lives with children completed this series of investigations, the world would be transformed. It is the foundation of Verb’s model of adult-child interactions.

Enterprise Talk: a handrail to authenticity and integrity: At Verb, we use descriptions and non-verbal signs to recognize children’s accomplishments, creating an environment with lots of laughter where kids receive encouragement without being evaluated. This way of interacting is a conscious rejection of the traditional approval/disapproval model.

Alfie Kohn’s homepage: Kohn writes and speaks widely on human behavior, education, and parenting. The author of eleven books and scores of articles, Kohn’s criticisms of competition and rewards have been widely discussed and debated.

Creative Inspiration

826 Seattle: a nonprofit writing center that helps students develop their creative and expository writing skills.

Art With Heart: a nonprofit whose mission is to empower youth in crisis through therapeutic books and programs that foster self-expression.

Creation Station: Suppliers of surplus and recycled materials and whimsy, and facilitators of big, open-ended activities for children.
